Gardening Tips from Doug Tallamy

  • Add more native plants, especially woody, structural plants which support a much higher level of biodiversity.
  • Manage watersheds - plants which absorb heavy rain and reduce storm water runoff
  • Willow Trees support 455 butterfly and moth species. Including Mourning Cloak, Red-spotted Purple, and Viceroy.
  • Goldenrod support 115 species. 125 Goldenrod species occur throughout the US. Goldenrod is used by many insects and spiders and birds who feed on the seeds and insects.
  • Preserve pollinators - provide a natural diversity to support multiple species

What is Ag Day?

Ag Day is a community event that brings agriculture and natural resources to life for approximately 8,000 people who attend each year.  Through educational exhibits, tours and activities, our exhibitors educate everyone, from schoolchildren to homeowners, senior citizens to teenagers, about the world of agriculture and natural resources.

Adding to the fun are our many supplemental vendors, who provide food and entertainment for our guests.

We hope to see you all next year for Ag Day 2021.
