I Heart UD Giving Day, on May 5, 2021, is an opportunity for members of the entire UD community to collectively support the UD causes, programs and initiatives that matter most to them.
With 100+ projects representing a range of academic, athletic and student life areas, I Heart UD Giving Day showcases the innovative and collaborative passions of our students and faculty—and the resources they need to achieve their goals.
Together, the UD community can make a lasting impact for current and future generations of Blue Hens!
We Heart UD Because ... It Builds Community
For Hillel—which supports students personally, professionally and Jewishly—I Heart UD Giving Day helps its programs, including “Shabbat Your Way,” which builds community by providing Shabbat meals to students to safely observe in their own way. The first Shabbat meal of the semester broke records—serving over 240 students.
"Hillel has made my first semester at UD beyond incredible. I met my best friends through Friday night Hillel dinners and it fostered new traditions. My friends and I can now share Shabbat together no matter what form it may be in. Because of Hillel I am inspired to be more connected with my Judaism and further deepen what it means to be a Jewish woman."
- Kayla Friedman, Class of 2024

We Heart UD Because ... It Ensures No Blue Hen Goes Hungry
Blue Hen Bounty is a student-operated food pantry, supplying food items and personal hygiene products for UD students, faculty and staff members.
“Especially during COVID, more and more UD members have been affected by food insecurity and financial issues. Blue Hen Bounty has provided a way to help out our fellow Blue Hens and make sure that everyone has food for themselves, their roommates, and their families.”
–Shannon Murray, Class of 2022, Coordinator of Blue Hen Bounty

We Heart UD Because ... It Changes Children's Lives One Ride at a Time
Through the Assistive Medical Technologies (AMT) group at UD, students have hands-on opportunities to design, construct and modify devices for medical use. For I Heart UD Giving Day in 2021, AMT is seeking support so that the group can customize and adapt Power Wheels cars for children with disabilities, at no cost to their families.
“There is nothing like seeing a child’s face light up when they realize they can control their new, sweet ride by themselves. That’s why we’re participating in I Heart UD Giving Day, to be able to provide more cars to more families, and more smiles to more children."
–Erin Krassan, Class of 2023
