Summer Funding and Research Support
The History Department is pleased to grant numerous awards to graduate students to recognize excellence in teaching, sustain summer research travel, and reward outstanding academic achievements. These awards include:
* E. Lyman Stewart Summer Internships
* Caesar Rodney Fellowships from the General Society of Colonial Wars
* Colonial Dames Scholarship from the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America
* Bassett-Ferguson Scholarship for the History of Technology
* Edward Ezell Fellowship for the History of Firearms and Technology
* Jean B. Whyte Endowed Fund Scholarship for the History of the Judeo-Christian Ethic in America
* Delaware Public Humanities Institute (DELPHI) summer fellowships
Awards
* Alumni Graduate Award (For the Best Printed Article or Seminar Paper)
* Catherine Flon Award (For the student who is working on a topic related to women's history and/or Africana Studies)
* Stanley J. Goldfus Memorial Award (For an Outstanding Teaching Assistant)
* John A. Munroe Memorial Award (For the student who has excelled in Developing and Teaching her/his own course)
* William H. Williams Scholarship Award (For the student who has demonstrated outstanding scholarly work in the area of American History during the period 1607-1865)
Additional Research / Writing Support
Our students regularly receive University Graduate Fellow Awards, University Graduate Scholar Awards, and University Dissertation Awards from the Graduate College and compete successfully for prestigious fellowships from the Smithsonian Institution, the McNeil Center for Early American Studies, and other regional and national research institutes.
