Delaware 4-H’ers Practice Their Public Speaking Skills
4-H programs have concluded their respective county public speaking contests for the year, and now the winners will have an opportunity to compete at the state contest during the Delaware State Fair in July. 4-H members combine their creativity with their public presentation skills to deliver excellent public speeches to those in attendance. Many friends and family share that public speaking is one of their favorite events of the year. Nervous 4-H’ers might not agree, but each time they participate their skills improve and they feel more comfortable.
Just by listening to the speeches, one could learn the “Easiest Way to Clean your Room” or understand “How Science is Helping Football Helmet Safety”. You could expand your understanding of “Women’s Role in Agriculture” or “Walk Through Historical Old New Castle”. You could be introduced to Sarah’s dog, Coco or hear about Austin’s “Awesome Road Trip”. Public Speaking is an important skill that 4-H’ers build during their time in the program; effective communication is the key to leading a rewarding life.
