After completing the Winterthur Program, Andrew returned to his native Ohio and entered the antiques trade, starting at Cowan’s Auctions in Cincinnati as head of the decorative arts department, and then moving to Garth’s Auctions near Columbus. At Garth’s, Andrew is an auctioneer, appraiser, cataloguer, and doer-of-whatever-needs-done.
Andrew’s research focuses on the early furniture of Ohio. He has published numerous articles on southern Ohio furniture, is currently researching the Germanic furniture of the Midwest, and is also curating an exhibition of Ohio decorative arts to 1860 at the Decorative Arts Center of Ohio. Additionally, he and his wife, Hollie Davis, write a monthly column, “The Young Collector,” for Maine Antique Digest.
