Welcome to Wellspring!

This is the launch of our new website, an effort to make access to our services and partners easier than ever before. Wellspring promotes students' behavioral and emotional wellness, and helps students evaluate options for maintaining healthy lifestyles, through prevention, intervention, support, and education.

Internships At Wellspring

If you are interested in completing an internship with Wellspring, please send an email to wellspring@udel.edu or call our office at 831-3457 and make an appointment with the appropriate person (see below). Our internship positions typically fill in the semester prior to the internship so we encourage interested students to contact us well in advance. Students persuing a degree in CHEP majors, nursing, medicine, teaching, women's studies, health promotion, wellness, counseling, or any helping field may obtain excellent job-related experience through our internships.

Wellspring/Pow! Internship

Wellspring offers one (unpaid) internship experience in the Spring & one in the Fall semester to students with an interest in overall wellness, stress management, disordered eating, fitness, nutrition, sexuality, safer sex, STDs, and/or other related topics. This experience typically involves providing administrative support to the student peer education group Pow! Promoters of Wellness. Pow! is divided into two sub-groups, ABIDE (About Body Image & Disordered Eating) and SUGAR (Sexual Understanding, Growth And Responsibility). In the past, students with various majors in the College of Human Services, Education & Public Policy and students in the Women's Studies Department have been able to complete their internships for credit, in conjunction with a required class in their major. The Pow! Internship can be modified to meet the hours required by the course; past interns have completed 40 hours, 80 hours, or 600 hours.

The Pow! Internship offers a variety of experiences. The internship can be contoured, to some degree, to the student's interests. Responsibilities can include designing new educational programs for Pow!; researching current speakers, videos, books, and other educational tools; conducting on-campus surveys; or other projects of special interest to the intern. All interns are expected to assist with tasks such as: working at health fair tables and events to provide information about Pow!; coordinating Pow! program requests and corresponding with the requestors; attending Pow! meetings; emailing reminders and meeting minutes; designing & disseminating publicity for Pow! & Wellspring events; photocopying and assembling Pow! training binders (Spring); and completing other related tasks. The Wellspring/Pow! Intern is supervised by the Director, Nancy Chase.
