WORKSHOPS

The Healthy U program offers far-reaching health and wellness programs focusing on education, self-care, behavioral changes, and disease prevention, as well as lifestyle modification and intervention. Program formats include on-site, self-paced and group programs.

Educational training opportunities are offered during the lunch hour to encourage employees to "take a break for health". The Wellness Workshops are offered from noon to 1:00 p.m. at various locations throughout campus. Topics include: diabetes awareness and prevention, back health, stress management, heart health, blood pressure, healthy weight, lifestyle and cancer, women's health, healthy eating, and fitting in fitness.

McNicholas, M.D., is the Medical Director for Performance Improvement and Surgical Utilization Management at Christiana Care Health System.  Prior to her current role, she was Associate Director of Cardiovascular Services at Christiana Care Health System and also previously Director of Pediatric Cardiovascular Surgery at Deborah Heart & Lung Center in New Jersey.

Tick Talk: How to avoid tick bites using personal protection and landscape modifications

Overview: 
Spring is not too far in our future and with it comes concerns about being bitten by disease-transmitting ticks. Information on ticks and their habitats, tick repellents, protective outdoor-clothing, and suggestions on modifications to home landscapes to reduce tick encounters will be presented through PowerPoint slides.
