The Internet is a computer network that enables you to make information easily available worldwide. You make your information available by placing it in a web page. A collection of web pages that are linked together is referred to as a web site.

Before you create and publish your web page(s), read the following information so you know the acceptable uses, practices, and your responsibilities when you use UD's network:

• the Policy for Student Use of Computing Resources for Home Pages
• the Guidelines for Student Home Pages
• UD's educational site about copyright called The Code of the Web

You must follow these steps in the order in which they appear for your web page(s) to be publishable and viewable on the Internet:

• Set up a subdirectory on UD's network in which to save your page(s).
• Create your web page(s) on your desktop (local) computer.
• Publish your web page(s) by uploading (transferring) a copy of the web page(s) from your desktop (local) computer to UD's remote server (i.e., copland.udel.edu).
