Friday, May 29, 2015 Parking Alert

The university is open for normal business as well as convocations on Friday, May 29, 2015. Parking for the following convocations will be restricted, so all guests are strongly encouraged to take the shuttle bus. The bus will run on a ten to fifteen minute cycle. Please allow yourself plenty of time. The maps below show the parking lots and shuttle bus stops

All shuttle buses are handicapped accessible.

Art Conservation and Art History – General parking is availble in Lot 19 and 17C. Handicapped parking is available in Lot 20. There is a shuttle bus running between Lot 19 and the front of the Carpernter Sports Building.
The shuttle buses will run from 12:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

Behavioral Health and Nutrition – Please park in the UD Science, Technology & Advanced Research (STAR) Campus parking lot and take the shuttle bus. It will drop you off in front of Robinson Hall. Follow the signs to the Gold Tent. After the convocation, return to the same spot and the bus will take you back to your car. There is a VERY LIMITED amount of handicapped parking (see table below) available. You are strongly encourage to use the parking shuttle.
The shuttle buses will run from 7:00 a.m. until 6:30 p.m.

Biological Sciences – General parking is availble in Lot 19. Handicapped parking is available in Lot 20. There is a shuttle bus running between Lot 19 and the back of Old College Hall.
The shuttle buses will run from 12:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

Doctoral Hooding Ceremony – Please park in the UD Science, Technology & Advanced Research (STAR) Campus parking lot and take the shuttle bus. It will drop you off behind Gore Hall. Follow the signs to the Blue Tent. After the convocation, return to the same spot and the bus will take you back to your car. There is a VERY LIMITED amount of handicapped parking (see table below) available. You are strongly encourage to use the parking shuttle.
The shuttle buses will run from 7:00 a.m. until 6:30 p.m.

Fashion and Apparel Studies – Please park in the UD Science, Technology & Advanced Research (STAR) Campus parking lot and take the shuttle bus. It will drop you off in front of Pearson Hall. After the convocation, return to the same spot and the bus will take you back to your car. There is a VERY LIMITED amount of handicapped parking (see table below) available. You are strongly encourage to use the parking shuttle. Only the section of Lot 53 closest to the intersection of Academy St. and Lovett Ave. has been reserved for handicapped parking.
The shuttle buses will run from 7:00 a.m. until 6:30 p.m.
Lot 53 Handicapped Parking

Foreign Languages and Literatures – Please park in the UD Science, Technology & Advanced Research Campus parking lot and take the shuttle bus. It will drop you off behind Gore Hall, which is right next to Mitchell Hall. After the convocation, return to the same spot and the bus will take you back to your car. There is a VERY LIMITED amount of handicapped parking (see table below) available. You are strongly encourage to use the parking shuttle.
The shuttle buses will run from 7:00 a.m. until 6:30 p.m.

Kinesiology and Applied Physiology – Please park in the UD Science, Technology & Advanced Research Campus parking lot and take the shuttle bus. It will drop you off behind Gore Hall. Follow the signs to the Blue Tent. After the convocation, return to the same spot and the bus will take you back to your car. There is no general parking for Kinesiology and Applied Physiology. There is a VERY LIMITED amount of handicapped parking (see table below) available. You are strongly encourage to use the parking shuttle.

Political Science and International Relations – Please park in the UD Science, Technology & Advanced Research Campus parking lot and take the shuttle bus. It will drop you off behind Gore Hall. Follow the signs to the Blue Tent. After the convocation, return to the same spot and the bus will take you back to your car. There is a VERY LIMITED amount of handicapped parking (see table below) available. You are strongly encourage to use the parking shuttle.

Psychological and Brain Sciences – General parking is availble in Lot 19. Handicapped parking is available in Lot 20. There is a shuttle bus running between Lot 19 and the front of the Carpernter Sports Building.
The shuttle buses will run from 12:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

All other Friday convocations use the standard Convocation Directions.

Commencement Parking

The parking lots will open at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2015. Please do not arrive earlier as you will not be able to enter any parking lot.

There is ample parking on campus for commencement.

Parking at commencement is on a first come, first served basis. There is no reserved parking.

Tailgating is not permitted in any parking lot during commencement.

Parking is available in several lots in the David M. Nelson Athletic Complex, South Campus, and the UD Science, Technology & Advanced Research (STAR) Campus. There will be shuttle buses running between the stadium and the STAR Campus lots. A map is available below.

RV parking is only available in the STAR Campus lot. Overnight parking is not permitted.

Handicapped parking will be available at the front of the stadium. You will need a handicapped plate, decal, placard or disabled veterans plate to park in the handicapped parking section. Handicapped parking at the front of the stadium is accessible from 896/S College Ave.

In addition to handicapped parking close to the stadium, all parking shuttle buses are handicapped accessible. If you arrive after all the handicapped parking spaces are full, please park in the STAR Campus lot and take the shuttle right to the stadium.

There are several privately owned parking lots very close to the stadium. These lots are not UD property. Please do not park in any privately owned lots. The lot owners may tow you at your own risk and expense. There is ample parking in the Athletic Complex and the STAR Campus. Please do not risk a ticket or a tow by parking on private property even if it seems closers or easier. The shuttle bus will drop you off close to the stadium and return you close to your car.

Convocation Parking

The table below shows the Friday and Saturday convocation locations and times as well as the recommended parking lots for those locations. Please find your convocation on the left and follow the table across to the right to find the recommended parking location(s). Detailed directions for the Saturday convocations are on on the Convocation Directions page.

Handicapped parking is very limited. Please use the handicapped parking only if you really need it. You must have a handicapped plate, placard, decal, hangtag or disabled veteran plate to use handicapped parking.

The handicapped drop off location in Lot 24 is for drop off ONLY. There is NO PARKING in Lot 24. Golf cart shuttles will be available at the handicapped drop off location for individuals with difficulty walking.

Directions are not given to Lots 1, 2 and 88 because they are the Athletic Complex lots and are used as the starting point for these directions. Please see the next item below for information about the Bob Carpenter Center.

Convocation Parking Alert

Business & Economics – Lerner BUAD (Hotel, Restaurant & Institutional Mgmt, Int'l. Business Studies, Management, Marketing, Operations, and Sport Mgmt.)

If you are attending Commencement AND the Convocation, please leave your car parked where it is and walk from the stadium to the Bob Carpenter Center. If you are attending only the Convocation, please park in the UD Science, Technology & Advanced Research Campus parking lot and take the shuttle buses to the Bob Carpenter Center. The parking shuttle runs directly from the parking lot to the stadium. All the shuttle buses are handicapped accessible, so if you or a member of your party has difficulty walking you can take the shuttle and be dropped off very close to the convocation. After convocation is over, you can take the parking shuttle back to your car.

Business & Economics – Lerner ACCT, MIS, FINC & ECON

Please park in the UD Science, Technology & Advanced Research Campus parking lots and take the shuttle buses to the Bob Carpenter Center. The parking shuttle runs directly from the parking lots to the stadium. All the shuttle buses are handicapped accessible, so if you or a member of your party has difficulty walking you can take the shuttle and be dropped off very close to the convocation. After convocation is over, you can take the parking shuttle back to your car.

The lots shown in BOLD ITALIC type in the tables below indicate handicapped–only parking except Lot 24 which is drop off ONLY. There is no general parking in these lots.

The Blue Tent is located on the North Green between Gore Hall and DuPont Hall and will be identified by blue balloons at each entrance.
The Gold Tent is located on the South Green between Robinson Hall and Kent Hall and will be identified by gold balloons at each entrance.

If you are parking in the Trabant Center Garage on Friday, May 29, 2015, the gates will be down, and you will still need to get a ticket, but there will be no charge for parking starting at 9:00 a.m.

On Saturday, May 30, 2015, the Center For the Arts Garage, Perkins Garage, and Trabant Center Garage will not be charging for parking if you enter BEFORE 5:00 p.m. If you arrive after 5:00 p.m., you will be charged for parking. You must exit the garage BEFORE 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2015. If you do not, you will have to contact Public Safety (302–831–2222) to let you out. All convocations using the Center For the Arts Garage, Perkins Garage and Trabant Center Garage will end well before 8:00 p.m. so you should be able to leave the garage before 8:00 p.m. If you intend to go out to dinner after convocation, please exit the garage after the convocation, even if you are eating at a restaurant within walking distance to make sure that you will be out of the garage by 8:00 p.m.

Parking and Golf Cart Shuttles

To help facilitate parking and travel during commencement and convocation, several shuttle buses will be running between the UD Science, Technology & Advanced Research (STAR) Campus and some of the commencement and convocation venues. Please refer to the maps and details below to help you with your parking and travel arrangements.

The locations marked with a circled GC on the 1st map below show the golf cart shuttle stops. There will be several golf carts moving betwen the marked shuttle stops and the convocation locations in those areas. In addition, there will be several golf carts opertaing in the stadium complex parking lots. They don't have fixed stops, but will circulate through the lots. If you need a ride, just flag one down.

Parking during business hours will be very restricted. Guests attending the Art Conservation and Art History, Behavioral Health and Nutrition, Biological Sciences, Doctoral Hooding Ceremony, Fashion and Apparel Studies, Foreign Languages and Literatures, Kinesiology and Applied Physiology, Political Science and International Relations, Psychological and Brain Sciences convocations are strongly encouraged to take the shuttle. All shuttle buses are handicapped accessible and will drop you off very close to the venue.

Please remember:
  • You should park and board the bus at location 1 on the map below.
  • Please use the bus stop at location 3 for the Behavioral Health and Nutrition convocation.
  • Please use the bus stop at location 4 for the Doctoral Hooding Ceremony, Foreign Languages and Literatures, Kinesiology and Applied Physiology, Political Science and International Relations convocations.
  • Please use the bus stop at location 5 for the Fashion and Apparel Studies convocation.
  • The STAR Parking Shuttle (1st map below) will run from 7:00 a.m. until 6:30 p.m.
  • The Lot 19 Parking Shuttle (2nd map below) will run from 12:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

There will be several shuttle buses running between the UD Science, Technology & Advanced Research Campus lots and the stadium. All the shuttle buses are handicapped accessible.

Please remember:
  • The buses will return to the UD Science, Technology & Advanced Research Campus lots after the commencement ceremony is over
  • The parking shuttles only travel between the UD Science, Technology & Advanced Research Campus lots and Delaware Stadium, they DO NOT travel to campus.
  • The shuttle buses will start running at 6:00 a.m. and run continuously until 6:00 p.m.
  • The STAR Parking Shuttle (1st map below) will stop at stops 1 and 2. Stops 3, 4, and 5 are not used on Saturday.

Alumni Delegates

Alumni Delegates should park in Lot 106 (behind the Bob Carpenter Center). A map is located on the back of your parking pass. You must show your Alumni Delegate parking pass to park.

Convocation Travel

Please see the convocations directions page for parking recommendations for each convocation. Traffic leaving the stadium immediately following commencement will be heavy. If your convocation does not immediately follow commencement, please wait before leaving to improve traffic for everyone.
