Friday, May 24th Parking Alert

The university is open for normal business as well as convocations on Friday, May 24th. Parking for the following convocations will be restricted, so all guests are strongly encouraged to take the shuttle bus. The bus will run on a fifteen minute cycle. Please allow yourself plenty of time. The maps below show the parking lots and shuttle bus stops.

  • Behavioral Health and Nutrition - Please park in the UD Science, Technology & Advanced Research Campus parking lot and take the shuttle bus. It will drop you off in front of Pearson Hall at the intersection of Academy St. and Lovett Ave. After the convocation, return to the same spot and the bus will take you back to your car.
    Guests are requested to arrive for the ceremony no later than 12:15 p.m. Please be at the parking lot by 11:45 a.m. to ensure that you arrive at the ceremony on time.
    The shuttle buses will run from 9:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
    All shuttle buses are handicapped accessible.
  • Biological Sciences - Please park in the UD Science, Technology & Advanced Research Campus parking lot and take the shuttle bus. It will drop you off in front of Robinson Hall. Follow the signs to the Gold Tent. After the convocation, return to the same spot and the bus will take you back to your car. There is a VERY LIMITED amount of handicapped parking available as described in the Gold Tent Parking & Handicapped Parking – Alternate section of the standard Convocation Directions. All the buses are handicapped accessible and will get you closer to the Gold Tent than the handicapped parking lot, so you are strongly encouraged to take the bus.
    The shuttle buses will run from 9:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

  • English - Please park in the UD Science, Technology & Advanced Research Campus parking lot and take the shuttle bus. It will drop you off behind Gore Hall. Follow the signs to the Blue Tent. After the convocation, return to the same spot and the bus will take you back to your car. There is a VERY LIMITED amount of handicapped parking available as described in the Blue Tent Handicapped Parking – Alternate section of the standard Convocation Directions. All the buses are handicapped accessible and will get you closer to the Blue Tent than the handicapped parking lot, so you are strongly encouraged to take the bus.

  • Fashion and Apparel Studies - Please park in the UD Science, Technology & Advanced Research Campus parking lot and take the shuttle bus. It will drop you off behind Gore Hall, which is right next to Mitchell Hall. After the convocation, return to the same spot and the bus will take you back to your car. There is a VERY LIMITED amount of handicapped parking available as described in the Blue Tent Handicapped Parking – Alternate section of the standard Convocation Directions. All the buses are handicapped accessible and will get you closer to Mitchell Hall than the handicapped parking lot, so you are strongly encouraged to take the bus.

  • Foreign Languages and Literatures - Please park in the UD Science, Technology & Advanced Research Campus parking lot and take the shuttle bus. It will drop you off behind Gore Hall, which is right next to Mitchell Hall. After the convocation, return to the same spot and the bus will take you back to your car. There is a VERY LIMITED amount of handicapped parking available as described in the Blue Tent Handicapped Parking – Alternate section of the standard Convocation Directions.   • Political Science and International Relations - Please park in the UD Science, Technology & Advanced Research Campus parking lot and take the shuttle bus. It will drop you off behind Gore Hall. All other Friday convocations use the standard Convocation Directions.

Commencement Parking

The parking lots will open at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 25th, 2013. Please do not arrive earlier as you will not be able to enter any parking lot.

There is ample parking on campus for commencement.

Parking at commencement is on a first come – first served basis. There is no reserved parking.

Parking is available in several lots in the David M. Nelson Athletic Complex, South Campus, and the UD Science, Technology & Advanced Research Campus (Former Chrysler Assembly Plant). There will be shuttle buses running between the stadium and the UD Science, Technology & Advanced Research Campus lot. Please see the map below for locations.

RV parking is only available in the UD Science, Technology & Advanced Research Campus lot. Overnight parking is not permitted.

Overflow parking is located behind the stadium in The Wood Field. The Wood Field is only accessible from Rt. 4. There is no shuttle between The Wood Field and the stadium.

Handicapped parking will be available at both the front and back of the stadium. You will need a handicapped plate, decal, placard, or disabled veterans plate to park in the handicapped parking section. Handicapped parking at the front of the stadium is accessible from 896/S College Ave. Handicapped parking is available at the back from Rt.4.

In addition to handicapped parking close to the stadium, there is a drop off location very close to the stadium for guests with disabilities or difficulty walking. Please watch for signs as you approach the stadium. Handicapped drop off is ONLY available from 896/S College Ave. Please do not use the Rt. 4 entrance if you only want to drop off passengers. All parking shuttle buses are handicapped accessible, so if you can't get to the drop off location, park in the UD Science, Technology & Advanced Research Campus lot and take the shuttle right to the front gate of the stadium.

Convocation Parking

Please park in the recommended lots for any convocation you attend.

If you are parking in the Trabant Center Garage on Friday, May 24th, the gates will be down, and you will still need to get a ticket, but there will be no charge for parking starting at 10:00 a.m.

On Saturday, May 25th, the Center For the Arts Garage, Perkins Garage, and Trabant Center Garage will not be charging for parking if you enter BEFORE 4:00 p.m. If you arrive after 4:00 p.m., you will be charged for parking. You must exit the garage BEFORE 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 25th. If you do not, you will have to contact Public Safety (302–831–2222) to let you out. All convocations will end well before 8:00 p.m. so you should be able to leave the garage before 8:00 p.m. If you intend to go out to dinner after convocation, please exit the garage after the convocation, even if you are eating at a restaurant within walking distance to make sure that you will be out of the garage by 8:00 p.m.

Business & Economics - Lerner ACCT, MIS, FINC & ECON

Please park in the UD Science, Technology & Advanced Research Campus parking lot and take the shuttle buses to the Bob Carpenter Center. The parking shuttle runs directly from the parking lots to the stadium. All the shuttle buses are handicapped accessible, so if you or a member of your party has difficulty walking you can take the shuttle and be dropped off very close to the convocation. After convocation is over, you can take the parking shuttle back to your car.

Business & Economics - Lerner BUAD (Hotel, Restaurant & Institutional Mgmt, Int'l. Business Studies, Management, Marketing, Operations, and Sport Mgmt.)

If you are attending Commencement AND the Convocation, please leave your car parked where it is and walk from the stadium to the Bob Carpenter Center. If you are attending only the Convocation, please park in the UD Science, Technology & Advanced Research Campus parking lot and take the shuttle buses to the Bob Carpenter Center. The parking shuttle runs directly from the parking lot to the stadium. All the shuttle buses are handicapped accessible, so if you or a member of your party has difficulty walking you can take the shuttle and be dropped off very close to the convocation. After convocation is over, you can take the parking shuttle back to your car.

Sociology and Criminal Justice

If you are attending Commencement AND the Convocation, please leave your car parked where it is and walk from the stadium to the Delaware Field House. If you are attending only the Convocation, please park in the UD Science, Technology & Advanced Research Campus parking lot and take the shuttle buses to the Delaware Field House. The parking shuttle runs directly from the parking lot to the stadium. All the shuttle buses are handicapped accessible, so if you or a member of your party has difficulty walking you can take the shuttle and be dropped off very close to the convocation. After convocation is over, you can take the parking shuttle back to your car.

To help facilitate parking and travel during commencement and convocation, several shuttle buses will be running between the UD Science, Technology & Advanced Research Campus and some of the commencement and convocation venues. Please refer to the map and details below to help you with your parking and travel arrangements.

Friday, May 24th
Parking during business hours will be very restricted. Guests attending the Behavioral Health and Nutrition, English, Fashion and Apparel Studies, Foreign Languages and Literatures or the Political Science and International Relations convocation are strongly encouraged to take the shuttle. All shuttle buses are handicapped accessible and will drop you off very close to the venue.
Please remember:
  • You should park and board the bus at locations 2 and 3 on the map below.
  • Location 1 is not available for parking. Please do not try and enter that lot as it is closed for construction. The shuttle bus will not stop there.
  • Please use the bus stop at location 5 for the English, Fashion and Apparel Studies, Foreign Languages and Literatures, or Political Science and International Relations convocation.
  • Please use the bus stop at location 6 for the Behavioral Health and Nutrition convocation.
  • The buses will run from 9:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
Saturday, May 25th
There will be several shuttle buses running between the UD Science, Technology & Advanced Research Campus lots and the stadium. All the shuttle buses are handicapped accessible.
Please remember:
  • The buses will return to the UD Science, Technology & Advanced Research Campus lots after the commencement ceremony is over
  • The parking shuttles only travel between the UD Science, Technology & Advanced Research Campus lots and Delaware Stadium, they DO NOT travel to campus.
  • The shuttle buses will start running at 7:00 a.m. and run continuously until 6:00 p.m.

Alumni Delegates

Alumni Delegates should park in the lot behind the Bob Carpenter Center (located in section L8 of the map below). Please use the Rt. 4 entrance. You must show your Alumni Delegate parking pass to the police officer on duty at the parking lot entrance.

Convocation Travel

Please see the convocations directions page for parking recommendations for each convocation. Traffic leaving the stadium immediately following commencement will be heavy. If your convocation does not immediately follow commencement, please wait before leaving to improve traffic for everyone.
