University of Delaware Commencement Spring 2010

May 29, 2010

UDee with diploma

Spring Commencement will take place on Saturday, May 29, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. in the Delaware Stadium, rain or shine. Gates open at 7 a.m. and guests should plan to arrive no later than 8:00 a.m. General seating for guests will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Up to this point we have been able to accommodate all our guests without the need for tickets. The most recent commencement crowds have been nearing capacity, so we will continue to evaluate the need for tickets. Should that need arise, we will, of course, be as generous as possible with the number of tickets each student will receive.

Students must arrive by 8 a.m. and be ready to process onto the field at 8:30. The ceremony will begin promptly at 9 a.m.

College and Departmental Convocation ceremonies will be held at indoor venues throughout campus. Please refer to the schedule below for times and locations. Most Convocation ceremonies will be held on Friday, May 28, or Saturday, May 29 following commencement, and no tickets are required. (Please see convocation schedule at the bottom of this page for further details.)

Special on-field seating and drop-off locations adjacent to Delaware Stadium will be available for persons with physical disabilities and for the elderly. Arrangements for disabled seating areas and drop-off locations do not need to be made in advance. Please note that on-field disabled seating areas are reserved for the person in need of disabled seating accompanied by one guest only. The University of Delaware does not provide wheel chair rentals or availability.

A sign language interpreter will be available at the Commencement ceremony. To request seating near the sign language interpreter, please contact us at (302) 831-2113 no later than May 7th.

To request a sign language interpreter for a Convocation ceremony, please contact us at (302) 831-2113 no later than May 7th.

Questions related to degree completion, requirements, and graduation eligibility should be directed to the appropriate academic department.

The University Bookstore is the only approved vendor for University of Delaware Commencement items, including official and required University regalia (caps, gowns and hoods). Moreover, by using the University Bookstore exclusively, the University can determine which graduates intend to participate in commencement exercises. Finally, this exclusivity ensures that the regalia worn at graduation will be uniform. Thus, regalia to be worn at graduation must be purchased only at the University Bookstore in the Perkins Student Center the week of May 10th.

Senior portraits information can be found by visiting the portrait website at www.udel.edu/studentevents/seniorportraits.html. Appointments are strongly advised.

Commencement brochures will be sent to graduating students at their permanent addresses and should be received in April. Once published, this brochure can also be viewed on line. When they become available, please refer to these brochures for further information.

This website will be updated as more information is confirmed, so please visit us often!
