Private Voice Mail
All University of Delaware Students get a Private Voice Mailbox.
Your Private Voice Mailbox allows you to receive messages from your
professors, family and friends. You will keep the same Private Voice
Mailbox number as long as you attend the University of Delaware.
It takes just a few minutes to set up your Private Voice Mailbox.
Voice prompts guide you through the process. Consult the UD Voice
Mail User Guide or the UD Phone Directory for detailed instructions.

Chain Mailboxes
A chain mailbox allows callers to enter a 7-digit, private voice mailbox
number of the person they are trying to reach. Chain mailboxes work best
for extensions shared by 5 or more people. Extensions used by graduate
students often take advantage of this type of voice mailbox.
All telephones in student Residence Halls are automatically enabled with
the chain-mailbox feature.
Set up a Chain Mailbox
For student phones in Resident halls:
If you want callers to leave private messages for you when you are not
home, you and your roommate(s) can include your private voice mailbox
numbers in the greeting of your telephone answering mailbox. For example:
You have reached 837-9999. We can't answer the phone right now.
To leave a message for Sarah, enter YYYYY now. To leave a
message for Jessica, enter XXXXX now. To leave a message for
both of us, record your message after the tone.
Replace "837-9999" with your correct telephone number. Replace
"XXXXX" and "YYYYY" with your private voice mailbox numbers. When the
caller enters your 7-digit private voice mailbox number, the call gets
transferred to your private voice mailbox.
