Yale Tournament
Blue Hens On The Winning Track
This past weekend, the average amount of time per match
were over 2 hours and 15 minutes. The good news is the team finished second
with a 3-1 record and now above .500 for the season. Everyone had a great
tournament. We wish everyone had a chance to compete, however, the competition
was unexpected tough right from the start.
Lunch at the Pekar's
This past weekend started a little slow due to a late
arriving bus--half an hour to be exact. Thanks to our gracious host of
the Pakars, our regularly scheduled lunch at 1:00 p.m. was served at 2:15
p.m. Everyone had a great time with lots of piano playing and marginal
singing (ha, ha.) At one time, the signing was so bad that their neighbor
had to come and complain (it really wasn't that bad; the neighbor was just
droping off some mail. So I'm not a good comedian.) Thanks again from all
of us to the Pekar's. You have a lovely home and we hope to stop by again
soon!! (hint, hint)
Highlights of the weekend:
Sr. Setter Paige Harrison had an excellent weekend. She was named to
the all tournament team with an average of 56 assists per match. Especially,
her amazing 63 assists in the match with Loyola College. Paige is also
our Melon Bank Blue Hen of the week for the week of 9/8-9/14.
Sr. Middle Blocker Becka Colenda registered an amazing 10 Block Assists
in our 4 game win over St. Peter's.
Jr. Outside Hitter Carly Cangiano was finally back to her normal steady
performance, after her disapointing medical red-shirt year last year, recorded
33 kills on the weekend.
Jr. Captain Joanna Dusza led everyone in kills with 23 against Loyola
College and recorded a weekend total of 59 kills. Also off to continuing
her nationally rank digging performance, Jo had 76 digs over the weekend.
Fr. Middle Blocker Jen Wanner sparked with her weekend performance
with an impressive .387 attack percentage. Over-all in 9 games out of 16
she had 26 kills and 10 blocks.
So. Nikki O'Malia step in, due to injury to the eye of regular starter
Sadie Bjornstad, and picked up 17 digs on the weekend.
