"BOB" Has Been Good To US !!!

This weekend was the "BOB" opener for the Delaware Volleyball Family. For the first time this season, the Hens competed in their South Campus Home -- The Bob Carpenter Center. As usual, Hens were successful in their outing at the BOB.

FDU

The weekend started with an error-less performance in game 1 of the match vs. Fairleigh Dickinson University. Hens committed 17 kills with no errors in 32 attempts. The Blue Hens also recored 11 team blocks in that match.

So. Outside hitter, Kristen Merrill led everyone with 10 kills in the match. So. Setter, Sadie Bjornstad had an impressive outing as the floor leader, dished out 25 assists in her one game service as the Hens' setter. Four Hens were able to perform without any hitting errors in the match; they were Jr. Outside Hitter, Carly Cangiano; Jr. Rightside Hitter, Breigh Hickman; Jr. Captain, Joanna Dusza; and Jr. Rightside Hitter, Katie Coldren.

Morgan State

It was an impressive defensive performance that won the match against the Honey Bears of the Morgan State Volleyball team. The Bears were a quick attacking team. However, the Fighting Blue Hens were able to block touch most of the attacks and turned the digs into kills. The frustrations in attacks for the Bears finally led to a 15-7, 15-5, and 15-3 win for the Hens.

Two players recored double figures for kills and digs. They were Carly Cangiano, and Joanna Dusza. Fr. Middle Blocker, Jen Wanner also added 11 kills to the combined effort in defeating the Bears.

USNA

What a Wall!!

The Hens, in a combined effort, put up 14 team blocks against the Naval Academy. Jr. Breigh Hickman contributed 1 block solo and 7 assists; Fr. Jen Wanner also contributed 1 block solo and 6 assists. While Jen and Breigh were busy putting the wall on team Navy, Carly and Jo were busy digging Navy's offense apart. The two of them combined for 28 of the total 46 team digs. They also engineered 30 of the total 69 team kills. In the match, Sr. Middle Blocker, Becka Colenda, Breigh Hickman, and Jen Wanner also recored 9 kills each. That's not forget Paige Harrison with her steady weekend performance in assists. Her performance earned her a spot on the All-Tournament Team. She along with teamates Joanna, and Jen were named to the all-tournament team. Joanna Dusza was recoginized as the tournament Most Valuable Player.
