Who We Are

USA is a coalition committed to the prevention of alcohol and drug use among Delaware secondary students.

Our members include Delaware public, private and Diocesan schools, parents, institutions of higher education, state and community agencies and foundations, and members of Delaware judicial and law enforcement agencies.

USA was established in 1997 as an outgrowth of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Grant to the University of Delaware and the City of Newark to reduce binge drinking and its second-hand effects. Since 1998, USA has been a sub-grantee of the Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws program of the U.S. Department of Justice, through the Delaware Department of Public Safety, Office of Highway Safety. Since 2001, USA has been a grantee of the Drug Free Communities Support Program of the Office of National Drug Control Policy and the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (through 2004) and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration, Center for Substance Abuse Prevention.
