Following the first snowfall of 2016, the University of Delaware was left digging out from 13+ inches of snow on the main campus in Newark, DE and nearly as much snow on its satellite campuses in Dover and Lewes. The blizzard forced the University to close on Monday, Jan. 25 to remove snow from walkways, steps, and parking lots.

Dennis Assanis, provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at Stony Brook University, has been elected the next president of the University of Delaware, after a unanimous vote by the Board of Trustees at a special meeting on November 18. Following the meeting, president Assanis held conferences with student and local press and attended several welcoming receptions where he had the opportunity to meet UD students, faculty, and staff.
