How to Complete the Course Planner

1. Desired Credit Hour Load
Specify the maximum number of credit hours you desire for this term. This field is required. The automatic scheduling program will fill your schedule up to this number of credits and truncate any requests over and above this number. For the fall semester, your semester bill is based on the number of credits you specify. For Winter and Summer Session, your bill is based on the actual number of credits for which you are registered.
2.
Priority number / Change priority
Place your courses on the web planner in order of priority (i.e. courses that are more important to you should be listed as priority 1, 2, etc.) When adding courses, they are automatically added to the bottom of the list. You can then reorder the priorities by using the up and down arrows.
3.
Course Information
Click on the course ID or name for detailed information from the Courses Search application.
4.
Course Messages
Informational and error messages appear in this area.
5. Action buttons
Use the "Edit" or "Remove" buttons to make changes to courses you have added to your planner.
The Edit button allows you to change one course at a time. With this function, you can change the course, credit hours (variable credit only), or grading option. You may also search the course catalog using the "Find a course" link. Click the "Update" button when you are ready to save your changes.
The "Remove" button allows you to delete a course from your planner. If you remove a primary course, the alternate becomes the primary for that priority number. If that alternate course already exists in your planner as a primary course, the entire course pair will be removed.
6.
Swap button
Use the swap button to swap your primary selection with the alternate. This only works if you have specified an alternate for the course.
7. Course ID: Primary and Alternate
Enter a course ID on the 'Primary' line in the following format: 4-character subject area in the first box, 3-character course number in the second box, 3-character section number in the third box. The section number for ALL courses with the Associate in Arts program is 710.
You may also optionally specify an alternate for this course, using the same format. The automatic scheduling program will scan all sections of the primary course first, and if none are available, then it will attempt to schedule the alternate for that course.
You may not specify an alternate without first specifying a primary course.
8. Find a Course
Use this link if you want to search or browse the Courses database. Use the "Add to Schedule Planner" button within the Courses database to automatically add that course to your planner.
9. Credit Hours
Enter the number of credits hours for each course. For fixed credit courses, the number of credit hours is automatically assigned. For variable credit courses, specify a number of credits that is within the given range for that course. If none is specified, or if the number specified is invalid, the system defaults to the lowest amount of credits available for that course.
10. Grading Option
Select a grading option from the drop-down list. The default is Standard.
11. Add to schedule planner
This adds the course and alternate to your planner in the last priority spot. You can reorder using the "Change Priority" arrows.
