Overview

Below is information that will guide you into managing your University of Delaware account. This information is vital for you as a student, as you will need to set up your e-mail, set up a UNIX account, set up a PIN for the University of Delaware's online interface, SIS+, which allows you to change and check your schedule, check your grades and more.

Set a UNIX name/e-mail
The next thing that you should do is set up a UNIX username. Your UNIX username will act as your e-mail address at the University. Having a e-mail address through the University is very important because occasionally, important information will be sent to you about cancelled classes, course assignments, as well as other vital information. Log into the University's network interface here and type in your Student ID (your social security number) and your UD PIN. After you log in, there should be a link that will allow you to set a UNIX username. Commonly, students use the first letter of their first name, and their last name as their UNIX username. (ex. John Smith = jsmith) However, the name you choose as your username is your choice. After you have completed this step, you can also forward your University e-mail to another e-mail address so that you do not have to check more than one e-mail account. (ex. Forward your UD e-mail to a Hotmail or an AOL e-mail account.) If you want to check your UD mail directly, click here for directions on how to do so.

Connecting to UD while off campus
Connecting to the University while you are off campus is optional. This is called PPP. (point to point protocol) This option can serve as a means for you to connect to the University's online resources, or use as a primary internet connection if you do not currently have one. This is done through a dial up connection and more information can be found here.
