Rendering of Newark Regional Transportation CenterConstruction has begun on the Newark Regional Transportation Center, a $50 million project that will turn the train station near the UD farm into an anchor for the 272-acre Science, Technology and Advanced Research (STAR) Campus.

UD received the 2017 Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award for its efforts to diversify faculty and boost enrollment of first-generation students. UD was also recognized for programming, scholarships and partnerships that encourage inclusive excellence.

U.S. News and World Report has ranked UD as 33rd among U.S. public universities, placing it in the top 17 percent. UD’s undergraduate chemical engineering program was ranked 9th best, and Lerner College of Business and Economics rose 16 spots to No. 78.

The four-floor, 530-bed South Academy Street Residence Hall opened its doors in August, restoring UD housing to its original capacity after beloved-but-withered Rodney and Dickinson closed in May 2015.

The 10-story STAR Tower is moving quickly toward completion on the Science, Technology and Advanced Research (STAR) Campus. The 120,000-square-foot high-rise will be home to both the College of Health Sciences and outside businesses whose missions complement those of the University. “This is ground zero for the new economy in the state of Delaware,” said Gov. John Carney (D-Del.), AS84M.
