Alumni and others whose lives were touched share their memories and thoughts.
M. Jane Brady, AS73
I have attached below a portion of the letter I sent to support Jim’s nomination for the UD Medal of Distinction [which he received in 2007]. I cannot say it any better now:
If you measure a professor’s success by that of his pupils, there have been few persons in the University community who have realized the success Jim Soles has had. Each day, in Delaware, decisions are made regarding significant and influential matters of state by those of us who were his students and are now his confidants and devotees. We come from all political ideologies, and serve in many different roles, but we each share the thrill of having been fortunate enough to learn from his passion for service that wehave something worthy to give.
His legacy of accomplished students, loyal to their alma mater, is one which the University has itself acknowledged. Many of those same individuals have been recipients of awards from the University in their academic and professional pursuits.
