Recent college guides give UD high marks

ON THE GREEN | The University has won praise from numerous college guides and ranking systems according to a variety of criteria, from its “Smart Money” value to its world-class stature internationally.

In August, UD was cited in the Fiske Guide to Colleges 2012 and The Princeton Review’s The Best 376 Colleges.

The Fiske Guide provides a selective and subjective look at more than 300 colleges and universities in the United States, Canada and Great Britain and calls UD “a public gem.” The 2012 edition of The Princeton Review’s annual guide, which profiles only about 15 percent of the 2,500 four-year colleges in the U.S., says, “If you’re looking for a ‘well-rounded’ college experience, University of Delaware delivers on every front.”

In September, U.S. News & World Report’s 2012 edition of “Best Colleges” ranked Delaware 75th among the nation’s best universities and 57th among undergraduate engineering schools that offer doctoral degrees.

On the international stage, UD is listed among the top 150 universities around the globe, according to a study released by the Center for World-Class Universities of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, which specifically cited its natural sciences and math, engineering, technology and computer sciences.

And, looking at educational value, UD was featured in a list of the 10 “Best Bang for Your Buck Colleges,” published Oct. 3 in The Huffington Post. The list, compiled by the college information site Unigo, says Delaware “offers a top-tier education with a very affordable price tag.”
