Professional Positions Manager, Compensation and Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) (Level 17) Human Resources DEADLINE: Open Until Filled QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree (Master’s preferred) in business administration, personnel management, finance, or other related field, and seven years of successful experience in compensation and HRIS, preferably in higher education. Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments; to apply strategic compensation concepts in the development of successful compensation solutions; to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments; to analyze problems and develop creative solutions to complex human resource issues; to foster a cooperative work environment. Employee development and performance management skills; strategic planning skills; program planning, development, implementation, and leadership skills. Advanced verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups. Advanced knowledge of compensation management principles and practices. Skill in examining and evaluating operations and developing and/or re-engineering operating strategies, systems, and procedures. Knowledge and understanding of State and Federal laws and regulations applicable to employee compensation. Demonstrated organizational and management skills; knowledge and understanding of competitive local, regional, and national compensation rates, issues, and trends; of customer service standards and procedures; of budgeting, cost estimating, and fiscal management principles and procedures. Strong working knowledge of MS Excel and Word and familiarity with HRIS, PeopleSoft preferred. Advanced analytical, evaluative, and objective critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively summarize and present information. RESPONSIBILITIES: Under limited direction of the Vice President for Administration, manage the daily operations of Compensation and HRIS, which includes, employment and supervision of staff, monitoring of work quality and productivity, setting of goals and objectives, promotion of a positive work climate, interpretation of policy, and recommending changes and/or procedures to increase overall effectiveness and efficiency. Provide comprehensive analytical and professional advice and support to management throughout the university in all areas of compensation. Monitor the effectiveness of existing compensation policies, guidelines and procedures. Provide insight and support to university clients in their efforts to tie a progressive compensation strategy directly to their mission and the overall mission of the university. Recommend strategic compensation plan revisions as well as new methods which are cost effective and consistent with compensation trends and University objectives; coordinate implementation and provide recommendations to the Vice President. Design compensation programs and guides that ensure that UD compensation programs enhance the organization's ability to recruit, motivate and retain highly skilled employees. Strategically utilize the HRIS system and other software systems to analyze data and create reports that provide value-added information regarding the level of effective management of human resources within the university. Act as a liaison with HRIS users within the university to provide vision, leadership, and planning, of the HR information system.
