4130 Associate Director, Major Gifts – Intercollegiate Athletics (Level 14) University Development

DEADLINE: Open until filled.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred with four years of progressively responsible job-related experience. Knowledge of the University of Delaware and its Athletic Program is extremely helpful. Experience in major gift fund raising desirable, preferably in a university or college environment. Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with prospective donors, to work effectively in a team setting, and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, within a diverse community. Strong interpersonal skills. Skill in developing and implementing new strategies and procedures, use of personal computers and related software applications. Ability to foster a cooperative work environment. Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities. Ability to develop and implement short-and-long-term goals and plans, develop and maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures. Ability to use independent judgment, persuade and influence others. Local and domestic travel required.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Under limited direction of the Director of Athletic Development, the responsible for major gift fund raising for the Intercollegiate Athletics Program, including identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major gift donors for the Program. The major emphasis of the position is the solicitation of gifts of $50,000 or more from individuals, corporations, and foundations. Assist in planning and implementation of the overall fund raising in support of current operations, endowments, and capital projects from all private sources. Accountable to the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics for the establishment of fund raising goals for the Intercollegiate Athletics Program and accomplishing these goals. Provide guidance to individual athletic coaches for editing and reviewing proposals. Attend “home” football and basketball games and other important athletics events.
