World Figure Skating Championships

Laura and Paul have had an exceptional year. Our sincere congratulations go out to them and best wishes for continued success.
Adult Nationals
Working all day at their jobs, taking care of their families and training. These are the things that our adult skaters do day in and out. Not because there will be financial rewards in skating, but because it is something that they love. All of our club members who competed at this year's Adult Nationals are to be congratulated. They have worked hard all year to represent our adult skating community.
UDFSC had two interpretive skaters and one dance team reach the podium. Congratulations to:
Ladies III, Interpretive | Dottie Ray | 1st Place |
Men I. Interpretive | Walter Rubincan | 2nd Place |
Bronze Dance | Bonnie Bareis and Tom Hoffken | 1st Place |
Our other representatives were:
Sincere congratulations go to all of our adult skaters who competed at this year's adult nationals held April 8-11 in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
UDFSC came away with 2 gold medals and a silver medal.
Theater on Ice Competition
The University of Delaware is hosting the 3rd annual Theater on Ice
Competition. It is to be held July 9-11.
Theater on Ice Competition involves teams of 6 or more skaters. The skaters do not skate as a team ,like in synchronized skating, but jump and spin in unison.
There will be teams here from around the United States as well as France and Russia.
VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED. Especially on Saturday, July 10. On that date, (the competition date) there will be a need for monitors, people to help set up and move props.
On Sunday, July 11, there will be a day-long workshop led by Rob McBrien of "The Next Ice Age."
For more information, or if you would like to volunteer your time, please contact the club office at (302) 831-4686.
Club Ice
Club ice sessions are held each Sunday, except holidays, in the Fred Rust
Arena. Since attendance has been increasing, we wanted to review the
right-of-way guidelines we use to provide a safe environment for all
skaters.
The first club session, from 5:00 p.m. until 5:45 p.m. is DANCE PREFERRED. This means that skaters having dance lessons or skaters practicing dance was the right-of-way and skaters having freestyle lessons or practicing freestyle must defer (get out of the way).
The second session is from 5:45 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. This session is FREESTYLE PREFERRED. This means that skaters having freestyle lessons or practicing freestyle have the right-of-way and skaters having dance lessons or practicing dance must defer (get out of the way).
Coaches and parents, it is important that you review these right-of-way guidelines with your skaters. We want our club members to enjoy the ice, but to do so safely and with respect for all persons on the ice.
A word to our coaches or anyone wanting to coach on club sessions. You must have liability insurance and must be approved to coach by Ron Luddington.
Thank you for your cooperation.
