Four Blue Hens named to All-East regional baseball teams
The University of Delaware baseball program has placed four players on the ABCA/Rawlings All-East regional teams.
Blue Hens first baseman Nick Patten was named to the first team while outfielder Jordan Glover, pitcher Ron Marinaccio and Doug Trimble were second team selections.
Patten batted .312 this past season, leading the Hens in home runs (14), runs scored (58) and RBI (54). Patten compiled 35 extra-base hits, and stole eight bases. He made just five errors in 57 games. Patten was a first team All-Colonial Athletic Association selection and was named to the NCAA championship tournament’s Lubbock (Texas) All-Regional team.
Glover batted .339 for the season, the second-best mark on the team. He hit 10 home runs, drove in 49 runs and stole a team leading 24 bases in just 25 attempts. Glover was named first team All-CAA and was named to the CAA All-Tournament team.
Marinaccio led the Blue Hens in both ERA (2.09) and strikeouts (68). The right-hander appeared in 22 games and made eight starts. He posted a record of 4-3, and converted three save opportunities. The pitcher was second team All-CAA and was named to the CAA All-Tournament team.
Trimble started all 57 games this past season for UD, and posted the third best average (.338) on the squad. Appearing mostly at designated hitter, Trimble hit the second most doubles (15) and produced the most hits (75) on the team. The senior stole 11 bases in 12 attempts, and was named a second team All-CAA selection.
UD won 34 games this past season, and captured the Colonial Athletic Association tournament title, advancing to the program's first NCAA regional since 2001. The CAA tournament win was the program’s first since moving to the conference in 2002.
