UD ranked No. 30 among nation’s public universities by US News

The University of Delaware is ranked 30th among national public universities and 79th among all national universities in U.S. News and World Report’s Best Colleges 2017 edition.

Joining UD at No. 30 among national public universities are Miami University of Ohio and the University of California Santa Cruz. The list is topped by the University of California Berkeley, the University of California Los Angeles, the University of Virginia, the University of Michigan and the University of North Carolina.

Heading the list among all national universities are Princeton University, Harvard University, the University of Chicago, Yale University, Columbia University and Stanford University.

In other rankings reported by the magazine, UD’s College of Engineering is ranked No. 58 for undergraduate engineering programs among those universities that have the doctorate as their top degree, and the Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics is ranked No. 94 for undergraduate business programs.

Also, UD is ranked No. 47 among best colleges for veterans and is included in the list of “A-plus schools for B students.”

Factors used to determine the rankings include peer assessment, graduation and retention rates, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, alumni giving and graduation rate performance.

Princeton Review

UD also was included in the Princeton Review’s The Best 381 Colleges 2017, in which students said the University offers “a wide range of opportunities” and is “full of students with pride, ambition and eagerness to make impact during the college years and beyond.”

Students also cited UD faculty members as “helpful and available outside of the classroom” and “invested in their classes” with an eye toward student success.

UD, which launched America’s first international study program in 1923, made the publication’s top 20 among study abroad programs.
