ECE Distinguished Lecture Series announces high-profile speakers

4:13 p.m., Sept. 1, 2015--The University of Delaware Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering has announced its Distinguished Lecture Series for 2015-16.

Speakers are scheduled as follows:

Research Stories

Chronic wounds

UD's Millicent Sullivan and Kristi Kiick have received a $1.4 million grant from the National Institutes of Health for research that could provide a new approach to the treatment of chronic wounds.

Prof. Heck's legacy

The American Chemical Society is highlighting the legacy of the late Nobel laureate Richard Heck, the Willis F. Harrington Professor Emeritus of Chemistry at the University of Delaware with a digital tribute on its publications website.
  • Oct. 7: “Synthetic Biology: From Parts to Modules to Therapeutic Systems,” Ron Weiss, Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
  • Nov. 11: “The Tactile Internet,” Gerhard P. Fettweis, Technische Universität Dresden.
  • March 9, 2016: “Engineering Education: Preparing Students to Change the World,” David C. Munson Jr., University of Michigan.
  • April 30, 2016: “Electronics for the Human Body,” John A. Rogers, University of Illinois.

The March 9 lecture will be the keynote for ECE Research Day, which will feature posters highlighting undergraduate and graduate projects as well as alumni achievements and awards. 

The event will take place all afternoon in the Trabant University Center, with the lecture scheduled for 3:30 p.m. in the Trabant Theatre and a reception to follow immediately afterward.

The remaining lectures will take place at 3:30 p.m. in Mitchell Hall, with the receptions to follow in the DuPont Hall lobby.
