Sellers, who is vice provost for equity, inclusion and academic affairs, will be speaking on the topic “Diversity in the Service of Excellence: The University of Michigan as a Case Study.”
The University of Michigan has been a champion of diversity in higher education and has made the argument several times in very public ways that diversity is an essential component of excellence in education.
The talk by Sellers will examine the merits and consequences of this stance, and will provide an overview of efforts to make diversity a reality on that campus.
The 2015 Lecture on Excellence in Diversity is co-sponsored by the vice provost for diversity.
