The University of Delaware’s Horn Program in Entrepreneurship has announced the winner of the 2016 Siegfried Award for Entrepreneurial Leadership, business leader and author Michael E. Gerber.

Gerber is the author of the bestseller The E-Myth Revisited and 13 other business coaching books in addition to co-authored E-Myth Vertical books. He is founder of Michael E. Gerber Companies and leads a startup incubator program, The Dreaming Room.

Gerber was named the “World’s Number One Small Business Guru” by Inc. Magazine, and received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Academy of Bestselling Authors.

“The award’s selection criteria focus on recognizing anyone who has made outstanding contributions to the understanding and practice of entrepreneurial leadership, which might include entrepreneurs, educators or consultants,” said Dan Freeman, founding director of the Horn Program.

The Horn Program’s Siegfried Award in Entrepreneurial Leadership was established by Robert L. Siegfried, CEO and founder of The Siegfried Group and chair of the advisory board for UD’s Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics.

“The selection of Michael Gerber is deeply meaningful to me because his clear understanding and communication about entrepreneurship greatly enhanced my understanding of leadership and what it really means to be a successful entrepreneur,” Siegfried said.

Gerber was selected to receive the award by a committee consisting of five entrepreneurs and three university professors. Freeman and Siegfried co-chaired the selection committee.

Gerber will receive the award, which includes a $10,000 honorarium, during a private celebration on Thursday, Nov. 10.
