UD students invited to offer entrepreneurial ideas at Halloween Pitch Party

8:49 a.m., Oct. 15, 2015--The University of Delaware’s Horn Program in Entrepreneurship will host a Halloween Pitch Party at 4 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 28.

This spooktacular edition of the Horn Program’s annual fall pitch competition aims to take the “scary” out of startup pitches, while showcasing the best entrepreneurial ideas of UD students.

June 5: Blue Hen 5K

University of Delaware graduates planning to attend Alumni Weekend are encouraged to register for the annual Blue Hen 5K walk and run, which will be held Sunday morning, June 5.

June 6-9: Food and culture series

The 20th annual June Lecture Series at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UD in Wilmington will be held June 6-9. Titled 'June a la Carte,' this year's program focuses on great political documents, feminism, world politics and a Newark cuisine sampler.

Contestants will be given 90 seconds to pitch their business ideas to a live audience and panel of accomplished judges. The winner will be awarded $1,000 in Venture Development Center cash to be used toward the development of their business.

The Horn Program promises no tricks, just treats, at an event that will include witches’ brew (hot apple cider), plenty of candy and, most importantly, 20 exciting startup pitches.

The competition will be held from 4-6 p.m. at the Venture Development Center at 132 E. Delaware Ave. There will be an early dinner served at 3:30 p.m. 

There is no cost but pre-registration is required. To attend or participate, register via the Halloween Pitch Party's event page. 

Registration will end at midnight on Monday, Oct. 26.

The competition’s judges include:

  • Ralph Cetrulo, UD accounting alumnus, manager of Stephano Slack LLC, and entrepreneur instrumental to the success of 19 companies.
  • Andrew Damico, UD business administration alumnus, president and director at WizeHive, past CEO and COO of IntraLinks.
  • Sue Frech, cofounder and CEO of technology startup Social Media Link.
  • Gary Michel, UD accounting alumnus, operating partner at Providence Equity, past CFO of Travelclick.
