Orchestral activities are led by Anderson and comprise three ensembles: the Symphony Orchestra, the Chamber Orchestra and University Strings.
The Opera Theatre is run under the direction of the UD opera program.
The Symphony Orchestra will kick off the season with "An Evening of Opera: Overtures, Arias and Ensembles." Featured music includes pieces by Bizet, Massenet, Mozart and others, and the concert will be held at 8 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 10, in Mitchell Hall.
As part of the Cinema Symphony Series, the Chamber Orchestra will accompany the 1925 silent film version of Phantom of the Opera. The performance will be held just in time for Halloween at 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 30, in Gore Recital Hall of the Roselle Center for the Arts.
The Opera Theatre will perform an opera based on the iconic play The Crucible, on two occasions: at 8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 13, and then again at 3 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 15. Both performances will take place in Loudis Recital Hall of the Amy E. du Pont Music Building.
