TEXT SIZE

10:31 a.m., Oct. 5, 2015--Michael Deschenes, professor and chair of the College of William and Mary Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences, will deliver a lecture at the University of Delaware’s Science, Technology and Advanced Research (STAR) Campus on Thursday, Oct. 8, at noon.

His lecture, “The Effects of Aging on Neuromuscular Adaptations to Increased/Decreased Activity,” will launch the College of Health Sciences 2015-16 Distinguished Scholars Lecture Series.

Research Stories

Chronic wounds

UD's Millicent Sullivan and Kristi Kiick have received a $1.4 million grant from the National Institutes of Health for research that could provide a new approach to the treatment of chronic wounds.

Prof. Heck's legacy

The American Chemical Society is highlighting the legacy of the late Nobel laureate Richard Heck, the Willis F. Harrington Professor Emeritus of Chemistry at the University of Delaware with a digital tribute on its publications website.

Deschenes, who specializes in physiology, will discuss the critical role of neuromuscular junctions, which are the synapses allowing nerve-to-muscle communication, in the neuromuscular system.

The lecture, held in the STAR Atrium, is open to the entire UD community.

The series features guest lecturers from seven universities and covers the lifespan with topics ranging from infant speech to health disparities in older adults.
