TEXT SIZE

2:50 p.m., Oct. 30, 2015--Quick response from University of Delaware Police officers led to the arrest of three individuals connected to a string of armed robberies that have occurred in the Newark and New Castle areas over the past few weeks.

UD Police responded to a complaint on Thursday, Oct. 29, of a group of suspicious people getting into cars in a campus parking lot. Witnesses provided descriptions of the suspects and their vehicle.

A short time later, UD Police located the suspects, conducted a traffic stop, searched their vehicle and found two Airsoft BB guns, bandannas, rubber gloves and other items. They also found items later identified as having been taken from vehicles in campus parking lots.

During the course of the investigation, UD officers learned that the suspects matched the description of the suspects in several armed robberies that had occurred in the New Castle County area.

Delaware State Police detectives were then contacted and, through further investigation and the execution of two search warrants, they were able to link the three to several armed robberies that had occurred since Oct. 11 in Newark and New Castle.
