International Games Day was created by the American Library Association in 2008 and takes place in libraries all over the world. It is a yearly event, with a mission to reconnect communities through their libraries around the educational, recreational and social value of all types of games. This is the second year that the University of Delaware Library will participate.
The event is cosponsored by a number of registered student organizations devoted to gaming in all its forms. In addition to the student groups, the faculty-led Game Studies Working Group and local game store, The Days of Knights, will also be leading sessions. Nico Carver, assistant librarian, Multimedia Collections and Services Department, is organizing the event.
International Games Day is made possible with generous support from the University of Delaware Library and the Latin American and Iberian Studies Program.
Activities are scheduled over the entire five hours of the event, but participants will want to arrive at noon for a special kick-off session and refreshments in the Class of 1941 Lecture Room.
More information will be available on the Facebook event page.
