DIGITAL LEARNING PROPOSALS

Provost's Initiative for Excellence and Innovation in E-Learning set

The University of Delaware is launching an initiative to expand UD’s academic footprint through the growth of e-learning opportunities.

The Provost’s Initiative for Excellence and Innovation in E-Learning calls for UD proposals to develop innovative new online graduate degree programs, as well as new online and hybrid courses at both the undergraduate and graduate level.

"We are delighted to have the provost's full support for this initiative, and very much look forward to working with faculty throughout the University in developing programming in both blended/hybrid and fully online modalities,” said Ann Ardis, senior vice provost for graduate and professional education.

"The University has a well-established tradition of integrating technology with teaching and learning,” added Jim Broomall, associate vice provost, professional and continuing studies. “This initiative is intended to increase the range and diversity of courses and programs that use e-learning strategies and techniques to promote academic excellence with access."

Proposals are being sought for program and course development in these areas: fully online graduate programs in areas of UD’s signature academic strengths; team-taught graduate courses delivered in partnership with other institutions; hybrid courses that feature experiential learning or fieldwork; and fully online undergraduate courses that many UD students currently complete at other institutions.

The Office of Graduate and Professional Education will award matching grants to support the development and delivery of the selected programs and courses. Priority will be given to proposals that include advanced graduate students on the program or course development teams.

Added Ardis, "I am especially interested in engaging graduate students in these course and curriculum development projects. This kind of ‘future faculty’ professional development opportunity may give them a competitive edge in the academic job market."

The deadline for proposals is July 15. For more information about resources for digital learning at UD, or to learn more about the Provost’s Initiative for Excellence and Innovation in E-Learning and download the request for proposals, visit the website.
