3:25 p.m., March 23, 2016--Members of the University of Delaware community are remembering Matthew Rosin, a junior honors student who passed away on Wednesday morning, March 23, surrounded by his family.

"Matthew Rosin was a committed and engaged student who touched many lives here," Acting President Nancy Targett said. "On behalf of the University community, we express our deepest condolences to his family and friends at this sad time."

Mr. Rosin suffered a critical brain injury last Oct. 23 after being struck by a bicycle while walking near the Trabant University Center.

A psychology and marketing major, he had served as programming chair in SCPAB and was a Welcome Ambassador for 1743 Welcome Days. He also was a member of the Outing Club and the American Sign Language Club.

In a Facebook post, his aunt, Debra Hertz Levenstein, expressed thanks to Hillel, SCPAB and Mr. Rosin's friends at UD and at home: "You gave Matt love, friendship and happiness, which meant the world to Matt and us."

Funeral arrangements

Services for Mr. Rosin will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 24, at Schwartz Brothers Funeral Home, 114-03 Queens Boulevard, Forest Hills, New York 11375 (telephone 718-263-7600). The family will receive guests one hour before the services at the funeral home.

Shiva will be held at the Rosins' house for the traditional seven-day period after the burial. Since it is not part of their beliefs, the family asks that flowers not be sent.

For those wishing to attend the services, a Delaware Express bus will pick up students in the area between the Trabant University Center and the Trabant Garage on Thursday morning, March 24. Students should arrive no later than 9:45 a.m. so that the bus may depart by 10 a.m.
