3:35 p.m., July 6, 2015--The University of Delaware's Student Wellness and Health Promotion and Sexual Offense Support (S.O.S.) are alerting members of the campus community who provide information on sexual assault support and resources that, while there has been a change in sexual assault crisis services in New Castle County, UD resources are not affected.

Effective June 30, 2015, rape crisis services in New Castle County transitioned from ContactLifeline Inc. to the YWCA's new Sexual Assault Response Center. Those seeking crisis counseling and intervention services 24 hours/day can call 800-773-8570.  For more information about this new service, see www.ywcade.org/sarc.

2FA protects you

If you are using two-factor authentication (2FA), even if a hacker has your password, your information is probably safe.

ContactLifeline will continue to provide the Crisis Helpline statewide for general types of crises -- including suicide prevention -- at 1-800-262-9800, but will only be providing rape crisis support in Kent and Sussex counties.

All UD offices and departments that provide referral and resource information regarding sexual assault are encouraged to update their online and print information as soon as possible to reflect this change.

S.O.S. on campus

In the meantime, UD's campus resource for 24-hour crisis intervention and victim advocacy, S.O.S., is not affected by this change.

Survivors of sexual assault, intimate partner violence or stalking, or anyone seeking information or assisting a survivor may reach an S.O.S. victim advocate by calling Student Health at 302-831-2226. Ask to be put in touch with S.O.S. The staff will take a first name and phone number and contact the advocate on duty, and the advocate will contact the caller directly within 10 minutes.

S.O.S. can also be accessed by calling Public Safety at 302-831-2222, which is the best option to reach S.O.S. on weeknights and weekends during the summer months when the Student Health Service is closed.

For information about other types of services for victims or about reporting sexual assault at UD, see www.udel.edu/sexualmisconduct/ or www.udel.edu/sos.
