'Resilience Engineering'

The University of Delaware's Nii Attoh-Okine recently published a new book with Cambridge University Press, "Resilience Engineering: Models and Analysis."

Reviresco June run

UD ROTC cadets will run from New York City to Miami this month to raise awareness about veterans' affairs.

Announcements

The College of Education and Human Development has announced several leadership changes as of July 1.

Lynn Okagaki, formerly dean of CEHD, has begun her term as UD interim deputy provost for academic affairs. She will be responsible for a number of University programs, including academic enrichment, honors, the academic program reviews, undergraduate research and service learning.

Carol Vukelich is now serving as interim dean of the college. Vukelich has been a professor in the School of Education for many years and served as the director of the Delaware Center for Teacher Education (DCTE). She will continue to move the college forward as it works to solve the problems that face schools and the challenges encountered by children, youth and families, locally and globally.

Bahira S. Trask has been appointed chair of the Department of Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS). Trask has served as associate chair, graduate coordinator and professor in HDFS. She is internationally recognized for her research on the changing roles of women and will be a strong leader for the department.

Laura S. Glass has become interim director of DCTE, which coordinates UD students’ field experiences and provides support services for students and faculty in professional education programs. The center also runs the Alternative Routes to Certification program and the Educational Resource Center, providing materials for education students and alumni.

Jacquelyn O. Wilson now oversees two recently combined professional development centers, serving as director for the Delaware Academy for School Leadership (DASL) and the Professional Development Center for Educators (PDCE).

Presentations

Matt Weinert, associate professor in the Department of Political Science and International Relations, presented "'The Last Prisoners of War': Cultural Heritage and Justice for Culture" at The Hague Institute for Global Justice Human Rights conference, June 8-10, and delivered two invited lectures, "The Art of (In)Humanity: Cultural Heritage, (De)Humanization and the Making of the World," at the University of Aarhus, Aarhus, Denmark, on June 15, and "Rethinking World Society: On Humanity, Cultural Heritage and the Planetary Environment," at Uppsala University, Uppsala, Sweden, onĀ  June 22.
