8:28 a.m., Jan. 14, 2016--This month, more than 1,100 University of Delaware students are participating in 57 study abroad programs across 28 countries around the world.

UD is a national leader in study abroad, with more than 30 percent of its students engaging in education abroad during their undergraduate careers in program fields ranging from the arts and humanities to the STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) disciplines.

Global Stories

Fulbright awards

Three University of Delaware students and an alumna have received word this spring that they will travel abroad as part of the newest class of Fulbright Student Program award winners.

Peace Corps plans

Two University of Delaware students, John McCarron and Bridgette Spritz, have been selected as Peace Corps volunteers and will serve in Ghana and Rwanda.

A Generation Study Abroad partner, UD’s Institute for Global Studies was recently recognized by the Institute of International Education for its innovation in the field, including the Delaware Diplomats Program, now in its second year.

In 2015, UD was also one of five institutions to receive the NAFSA Senator Paul Simon Award for Comprehensive Internationalization, an honor given to universities that demonstrate significant progress toward comprehensive internationalization — especially those using innovative and creative approaches.

‘Dare to Take Us There’

Students studying abroad during summer and fall of 2015 and winter and spring of 2016 are invited to “Dare to Take Us There” in the annual Study Abroad Photo and Video Contest

Photos will be accepted in the categories of Landscape, Portraiture, and Impactful Moments. Each student may submit no more than two photos per category.

Participants are also encouraged to submit a 60 second (or less) video that leads viewers through the authentic experience of a study abroad student.

Judges will choose winners based on the ability of the participants to capture moments that truly represent the study abroad experience, and that changed the students' outlook on the world, their host country, or themselves.

Photo and video submissions will be accepted via this online form. Each should be accompanied by a title and short, meaningful description.

For complete details on this year’s photo and video contest, visit the IGS website or email go-global@udel.edu
