CCM-sponsored seminar to feature director of Defense Sciences Office
2:53 p.m., Jan. 14, 2016--The University of Delaware Center for Composite Materials is hosting a seminar, “Engaging with DARPA,” from 1:30-2:30 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 20, in 106 Composites Manufacturing Science Laboratory. The event is open to all UD faculty.
DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) creates breakthrough technologies for national security.

The Defense Sciences Office (DSO), one of six technical offices within the agency, identifies and pursues high-risk/high-payoff fundamental research initiatives across a broad spectrum of science and engineering disciplines including materials science, computing and autonomy, engineering design and manufacturing, physics, chemistry, mathematics, and social science.
DSO director Stefanie Tompkins will provide an overview of DARPA, discuss working with DARPA and the DSO, and describe some of DSO’s current activities.
