Spring move-in
5,000 students expected to move back to residence halls over weekend
10:20 a.m., Feb. 4, 2016--Over Winter Session, about 2,500 students lived on campus, which means that almost 5,000 students will move back to University of Delaware residence halls during move-in weekend, Feb. 6-8.
“The main move-in day is Sunday, Feb. 7,” said James Tweedy, senior associate director, Residence Life and Housing. “Residence hall staff will be available 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. to check students in for the semester, including about 300 students new to campus for the spring.”

Students requesting an exception to check in to the residence halls early can complete an early arrival form in the Interim Housing section of the My Housing portal, available through Feb. 5.
Special unloading locations
Students who live in the University’s South Central complex and in Caesar Rodney residence hall and who plan to move in on Sunday, Feb. 7, may unload their belongings in the Laurel Hall parking lot.
Parking Services staff will be available in the area from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Feb. 7 and handcarts will be available to assist with moving items. Parking and loading/unloading are prohibited on Academy Street.
To reach the Laurel Hall lot, drivers should enter Robinson Drive via the south entrance from South College Avenue.
Drivers can then move their vehicles to long-term parking, turning around in the parking lot via Robinson Drive heading north.
“Vehicles should not be left unattended in the Laurel Hall lot,” said Jenni Sparks, manager, Parking Services. “Student Health Services will be open for business.”
Students moving in to Louis L. Redding and Eliphalet Gilbert halls will also be able to drive onto the bricked pathways near those buildings during peak move-in hours.
Cars parked in the fire lane must always have a licensed driver attendant at the vehicle. The University reserves the right to tow any vehicle in violation of parking regulations.
Additionally, the University Police Department warns that students should continue to use crosswalks and be vigilant of their safety when walking, as there are likely to be many drivers in the area unfamiliar with campus.
