Campus Stories

From graduates, faculty

As it neared time for the processional to open the University of Delaware Commencement ceremonies, graduating students and faculty members shared their feelings about what the event means to them.

Doctoral hooding

It was a day of triumph, cheers and collective relief as more than 160 students from 21 nations participated in the University of Delaware's Doctoral Hooding Convocation held Friday morning on The Green.

The associate deputy provost for international programs oversees the Institute for Global Studies, the Office for International Students and Scholars and the operations of the Confucius Institute. Ammigan will continue to oversee OISS, which administers a University-wide program to provide information and a broad array of services to approximately 3,500 international students and scholars.

“Ravi brings tremendous experience and vision in international education and outreach,” said Okagaki. “In a short time he has transformed OISS to greater effectiveness, capitalizing on the talents and insights of his team. I am extremely confident in his ability to lead both OISS and IGS.”

“It is indeed an honor to be serving in this position,” said Ammigan. “I look forward to working with UD's leadership, faculty members and key stakeholders as we continue to advance our global mission and presence through opportunities for engagement and programming.”

He said, “It remains a priority for the UD Global team to infuse international perspectives into the teaching, research, and service aspects of our University as we make a difference in the lives of our students, faculty and staff,”

Ammigan, who was raised in Mauritius, is informed by his international and multicultural upbringing. Looking ahead, Ammigan said that, while UD has a long tradition and history with international programs, "we need to remain strategic and intentional in how we develop sustainable partnerships and increase the visibility of UD around the world.”
