“We heard from junior faculty looking to explore new ideas for involving undergraduates in their research, from graduate students overwhelmed by the idea of a ‘job talk’ and everyone else struggling with balancing their family life with work demands,” said Bahira Trask, HDFS department chair. “This series will bring together the expertise of the University community in an informal, collegial environment.”
UD graduate students, faculty and staff are invited to bring lunch and enjoy a 45-minute session designed by HDFS faculty. Sessions will be held from 12:15-1 p.m. in 209 Alison Hall West (Conference Room), and participants will have an opportunity to learn about the following topics:
- Feb. 26: Furthering academic excellence. Involving undergraduates in research; directing an honor’s thesis, with Barbara Settles, professor, and Jason Hustedt, assistant professor, both of human development and family studies.
- March 11: Preparing for an academic job talk. Family influences on adolescent adjustment, with Laura Finan, human development and family studies doctoral student.
