University Library offers 'Creative Photography' workshops in March

10:13 a.m., Feb. 18, 2016--The University of Delaware Library will present three workshops on creative photography in March.

In “Creative Photography I: Understanding Your Digital Camera,” participants will learn how to go beyond their camera’s auto setting and understand how to use aperture, shutter speed, ISO and white balance to produce impressive results.

Photography is an art as well as a science, so in “Creative Photography II: Basics of Composition” participants will build on the concepts from the “Understanding Your Digital Camera” workshop to take their photos to the next level. 

Participants will complete the photographic journey by attending “Creative Photography III: Adobe Photoshop: The Basics.” This workshop is for those with little or no experience with Photoshop who want to learn the basics, and will cover how to crop, resize and combine images; use layers and layer masks; adjust curves, saturation and color; and export for the web or print.

“Creative Photography I: Understanding Your Digital Camera” will be offered from 2-3:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 1, in Room B of the Student Multimedia Design Center on the lower level of the Morris Library.

Presenter will be Hannah Lee, senior assistant librarian and program coordinator, Multimedia Literacy, Multimedia Collections and Services Department.

“Creative Photography II: Basics of Composition” will be offered from 2-4 p.m., Tuesday, March 8, also in Room B of the Student Multimedia Design Center. Lee will be the presenter.

“Creative Photography III: Adobe Photoshop: The Basics” will be offered from 2-4 p.m., Tuesday, March 22, also in Room B of the Student Multimedia Design Center.

Presenter will be Nico Carver, assistant librarian and coordinator, Student Multimedia Design Center             Services, Multimedia Collections and Services Department.

These workshops are available at no charge and are open to University of Delaware faculty, staff and students. Seating is limited and registration is required. Online registration is available at this website.
