Author, commentator Julianne Malveaux to deliver Black History Month lecture

8:01 a.m., Feb. 9, 2016--Author and commentator Julianne Malveaux, president emeritus of Bennett College for Women, will deliver the University of Delaware Black History Month Extravaganza lecture at 7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 25, in the Multipurpose Rooms of the Trabant University Center.

Malveaux will speak on the topic “Beyond King’s Dream: Perspectives on Economics, Race, Justice and Our Nation’s Future.”

University of Delaware graduates planning to attend Alumni Weekend are encouraged to register for the annual Blue Hen 5K walk and run, which will be held Sunday morning, June 5.

June 6-9: Food and culture series

The 20th annual June Lecture Series at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UD in Wilmington will be held June 6-9. Titled 'June a la Carte,' this year's program focuses on great political documents, feminism, world politics and a Newark cuisine sampler.

Presented by UD’s Center for Black Culture, the lecture is free and open to the public. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m.

Malveaux’s work appears regularly in such publications as USA Today, Essence magazine and the Progressive. She is the author of Wall Street, Main Street and the Side Street: A Mad Economist Takes a Stroll and co-editor of Slipping Through the Cracks: The Status of Black Women and The Paradox of Loyalty: An African American Response to the War on Terrorism.

She appears regularly on CNN and BET and also has appeared on the PBS program To the Contrary, ABC’s Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher and Fox News’ The O’Reilly Factor.
