University to host New Graduate Student Orientation on Aug. 24
The University of Delaware will hold New Graduate Student Orientation from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 24, at Clayton Hall on the Laird Campus.
The half-day event, offered by UD Graduate and Professional Education, is designed to provide new graduate students the information and tools needed to explore the University’s offerings, access resources, and learn about the wide range of academic resources and student support services on campus available to graduate students.
“New Graduate Student Orientation is a wonderful opportunity for UD’s talented new graduate students to meet one another, hear from University administrators as well as faculty and current students, and find out what it is to be a Fightin’ Blue Hen,” said Ann Ardis, senior vice provost for graduate and professional education.
Over 650 graduate students from around the nation and internationally will be attending.
Registration will begin at 8 a.m., with a welcome session titled “Getting Connected” at 8:30.
Concurrent sessions will be held from 10:10-11 a.m. The sessions are “Your First Semester as a Master’s Candidate” for new master’s degree students and “Academic Support Services Beyond Your Program” for all doctoral students.
Following a break, a second round of concurrent sessions will get underway at 11:15 a.m. The sessions are “Academic Support Services Beyond Your Program” for the master’s students and “UD’s World of Research Opportunities” for the doctoral students.
Lunch and a community resource fair will be held at noon, with New Graduate Teaching Assistant Orientation scheduled from 1-5 p.m. The afternoon program will be coordinated by the Center for Teaching and Assessment of Learning.
