Events Stories

June 5: Blue Hen 5K

University of Delaware graduates planning to attend Alumni Weekend are encouraged to register for the annual Blue Hen 5K walk and run, which will be held Sunday morning, June 5.

June 6-9: Food and culture series

The 20th annual June Lecture Series at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UD in Wilmington will be held June 6-9. Titled 'June a la Carte,' this year's program focuses on great political documents, feminism, world politics and a Newark cuisine sampler.

Activities will include an 80-foot-long moon bounce obstacle course, a basketball shoot off hosted by the Delaware 87ers, a baseball toss game and a silent auction including large-ticket items such as two NASCAR tickets in the Monster Mile Suite at Dover International Speedway.

There will be games such as plinko and bean bag toss and other carnival activities such as face painting and caricatures.

There also will be wellness screenings, and music and entertainment.

There will be food hot off the grill, baked goods, carnival foods like popcorn and cotton candy, and fruits as a healthy alternative.

The proceeds for this fundraiser will support the UD physical therapy students’ efforts in the Pitt-Marquette Challenge to benefit the Foundation for Physical Therapy.

The challenge is an annual competition among physical therapy and physical therapy assistant schools to raise money for this valuable cause.

The Foundation for Physical Therapy provides grants and funding for a large number of high level, peer-reviewed research that helps propel the profession.

For the past 15 years, UD has participated in the challenge and has raised a total of $58,902.
