9:53 a.m., Aug. 21, 2015--Art, music and history are featured in coming events designed for University of Delaware alumni throughout the country.

In Delaware, alumni are invited to a special curator’s talk at the Delaware Art Museum on Sept. 3. Those in the Southwest are encouraged to learn more about “Art in Arizona” during a special event Oct. 2 in Phoenix.

UD ROTC cadets will run from New York City to Miami this month to raise awareness about veterans' affairs.

Virginia is known for its rich history and alumni in the Richmond area are invited to enjoy a Segway tour on Sept. 12. 

Alumni have access to a special tour of the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall and a performance by the renowned Baltimore Symphony Orchestra on Oct. 10.

Later that week, on Oct. 16, alumni are invited to the symposium “Green Light: Prospects in Lighting Design and Technology” to be held on the UD campus.

Details on these UD alumni activities are as follows:

Thursday, Sept. 3, 6 p.m.: Curator’s Talk on “The Puzzling World of John Sloan.” Alumni are invited to join the Friends of Art History at the Delaware Art Museum in Wilmington for a talk and reception celebrating “The Puzzling World of John Sloan,” an artist from the Ashcan School whose work focused on the “drab, shabby, happy, sad, and human life” of a city and its people during the early 20th century. Curator Margarita Karasoulas, a doctoral student at UD, will discuss the mazes, rebuses and hidden pictures featured in the exhibition.

Saturday, Sept. 12, 1:45 p.m.: Richmond historical Segway tour. Alumni are invited to join in a guided Segway historical tour of Richmond, with stops to include the Virginia State Capitol, the James River and the John Marshall House. 

Friday, Oct. 2, 6 p.m.: Phoenix Blue Hen Art Night. The Phoenix Alumni Club will host an event focused on the arts at the Arizona State University Student Center at the Post Office. There will be a presentation on “Art in Arizona” by UD alumna Betsy Fahlman.

Saturday, Oct. 10, 5 p.m.: Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. The Baltimore Alumni Club will offer a Baltimore Symphony Orchestra tour, reception and performance at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. 

Friday, Oct. 16, 9 a.m.-6:30 p.m.: Art and Science: Connections and Intersections. Alumni are invited to attend the second Art and Science: Connections and Intersections symposium, “Green Light: Prospects in Lighting Design and Technology” to be held at UD’s Clayton Hall.
