Newark Police investigate two motor vehicle thefts

1:07 p.m., April 27, 2016--Newark Police are investigating two motor vehicle thefts that occurred around 7:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 26, from the parking garage at 208 East Delaware Ave. 

According to Newark Police, a man rode a bicycle into the parking garage, parked it and then entered an unlocked maroon Subaru Legacy. He then drove away with the vehicle. Five minutes later, he returned and entered an unlocked white Volkswagen Jetta and drove away in it. The bicycle was left at the scene and recovered by Newark Police.

The suspect is described as a white male in his mid to late 20s, wearing a green Eagles sweatshirt, camouflage shorts, tan work boots and a dark-colored hat. Police have released photos of the suspect and the bicycle.
