Newark Police investigate assault of woman on James F. Hall Trail
3:01 p.m., April 19, 2016--Newark Police are investigating the assault of a 23-year-old woman that occurred at approximately 8:45 p.m., Monday, April 18, on the James F. Hall Trail in Newark.
Police responded to a report of a woman found lying on the ground unconscious, but breathing. The victim told officers that she was running on the trail in the area of Phillips Park when she was shoved from behind to the ground and then punched in the face several times, causing bruising.
The suspect was described as a large man wearing a ski mask and gloves. No property was taken and no witnesses to the incident were located. The victim was transported to Christiana Hospital by Aetna, Hose, Hook and Ladder ambulance for treatment.
