The Leonid Hurwicz Collegiate Professor of Complex Systems, Political Science and Economics at the University of Michigan, Page also directs the Center for the Study of Complex Systems.
His book, The Difference, is considered a classic argument for the benefits of diversity. In the book, Page not only demonstrates that groups with a range of perspectives outperform groups of like-minded experts but also shows practical ways to apply diversity to a host of problems to the benefit of all.
Page, a member of the Michigan faculty since 2000, was elected in 2011 to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. His research focuses on the myriad roles that diversity plays in complex systems.
In addition to The Difference, which demonstrates the benefits and costs of diversity in social contexts, he is the co-author of Complex Adaptive Social Systems, which provides an introduction to complexity theory. His most recent book is Diversity and Complexity, which explores the contributions of diversity within complex systems.
Page also has published papers in a variety of disciplines including economics, political science, computer science, management, physics, public health, geography, urban planning, engineering and history.
